OMHA Ends 2020-2021 Season
Submitted By Deb Larsen on Monday, April 12, 2021
This has been a very challenging year and a hockey season like never before.

The OMHA wishes to recognize and acknowledge the tremendous effort put forth by all families, volunteers and administrators that goes into providing a positive minor hockey experience for all our participants under such unprecedented and trying circumstances.

The Board of Directors of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association convened a Special Board of Directors meeting on April 8th to discuss the current and ongoing status of the 2020-21 season. Due to the Stay at Home Order currently in place through the first week of May across Ontario, the OMHA Board has determined that effective April 12, 2021, the 2020-2021 season is concluded.

This was not a decision that was made lightly. Many factors were taken into consideration by the OMHA Board, but first and foremost, the overall health and safety of our participants and their communities remained at the forefront of this decision. Other challenges, such as those faced by many communities and municipalities to keep facilities open, factored into this decision.

The attention and focus of the OMHA now turns with optimism to planning and preparing for what we all hope will be a return to improved programming opportunities for our youth in the 2021-22 season. With that in mind, the OMHA Board and staff continue their efforts toward the presentation of our 2021 virtual AGM, followed by a summer of working diligently toward an anticipated and energized restart following Labour Day in September of 2021.

Please stay safe.
