Congratulations to the Markham Waxers U9 MD on their championship win in the Blue & Gold Tournament in Bradford. This hardworking team had just begun their full ice hockey career earlier this month. They persevered and adjusted to the ways and rules of full ice hockey and their determination shows with this championship.
The team battled hard all weekend and posted shutouts in their first two games, providing them an entry into the finals. They faced a tough game three loss against the Co-operators, losing 4-1. With an opportunity for a rematch against the Co-operators in the game four final, the Waxers showed up with grit and endurance. Entering the third in a suspenseful 2-2 tie, the fans were on their toes. However, our champs hustled and with 43 seconds left in the period, they scored the game winning goal.
Gloves flew, sticks were thrown, and hearts were full as our players celebrated their well-earned championship. These players showed their commitment and passion for the game that we all love, resulting in the most favorable outcome this weekend. The Markham Waxers U9 MD would like to thank the Bradford Bulldogs for hosting a spectacular and memorable tournament.
