Waxers U16 AA Champions!
The Markham Waxers U16 AA team had the privilege of participating in the 2021 Adam Keunen Memorial Tournament in the Niagara region.  The field consisted of five teams in a four-game round robin to determine the final two teams based on seeding.

The tournament started off on Friday, with our first game against the host team, West Niagara Flying Aces, where the game was close but the outcome did not go our way with a loss (2-3).  From that point onward the team would win and tie our next two games setting us up for a must win in our fourth game to advance to the finals.  The team rallied behind one another to secure the win, which meant we would literally and figuratively have to quickly shift our minds and focus to the final game on Sunday afternoon with only a few hours between games.

The finals would be a rematch against the West Niagara Flying Aces, so the very recent loss to this team at the start of the tournament weighed on everyone’s mind.  However, the coaching staff and the players rallied behind one another and were determined to control the outcome of this game from the very first puck drop.  After 25 minutes of teamwork, effort, and perseverance the game was decided with a decisive Waxers win: 6-0!!

Thanks to the players, coaches, and parents for creating some lasting memories from this past weekend!  Go Waxers Go!!
