Markham Waxers Minor Peewee A Team are Gold Medal Champions of the 2019 Waxers
September Showdown!
After going 1-0-2 in round robin play and clinching the #1 seed in their bracket, The Minor Peewee A Waxers advanced to the finals with a dominating 6-0 win over the Toronto Aeros in Saturday afternoons semi-final match-up.
For the championship game The Waxers faced a formidable opponent - The Whitby Wildcats - whom they tied 0-0 in round robin play. The Waxers came out fiercely determined to leave their mark on the tournament and jumped out to a convincing 2-0 lead heading into the 3rd period. The intense back and forth battle continued with Whitby storming back with a goal with 5 minutes left to play with multiple unsuccessful chances in the closing minutes. Our Waxers kept their composure and clinched the game with a final winning score of 2-1!
