Team Official Qualification Requirements 20-21 UPDATED
The OMHA has published its qualification requirements for team officials for the 2020-2021 season. One key element of the requirements is the mandatory Hockey University - Planning a Safe Return to Hockey course that is required for all team officials. 

Coaches in divisions U9 (formerly Novice) and below must hold Coach 1 - Introduction to Coach. No other qualifications are accepted.

Coaches in divisions U10 (formerly Minor Atom) and above must hold Coach 2 - coach Level "Trained" or higher.

All Coaches 2020-2021

In order to be rostered for the 2020-2021 season, all coaches must complete the following:

  1. Hockey University: Planning a Safe Return to Hockey (NEW) (1/2 hour)

    Following the course, the participant Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) profile will be updated. If you do not have an existing profile in HCR, we request that you print/save your certificate of completion as a PDF or take a screenshot.

    You must complete the five (5) question survey at the end of the course in order to be issued your certification for the course.

  2. Rowan's Law Resource Review & Acknowledgement

  3. Up-to-date Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)

Coaches with Qualifications Expiring August 31, 2020

If a coach currently holds a Coach 2 - Coach Level "Trained" qualification that is expiring, their options are:
  1. Complete the Trained to Certified process to be eligible for the 2020-2021 season. This process includes:
  2. The expiring Coach 2 "Trained" Coach who elects not to complete this process will be required to complete the requirements outlined for Coach 2 "New Coaches" (below) in order to be eligible for the coming season.

If a coach currently holds a Development 1 "Trained" qualification that is expiring, their options are:

  1. Complete the following to be considered "in process" for the 2020-2021 season:
  2. The expiring D1 "Trained" Coach who elects not to complete this process will be required to complete the requirements outlined for Coach 2 "New Coaches" (below) in order to be eligible for the coming season.

New Coaches: Coaching Qualification Requirements for 2020-2021

Coach 1 - Intro to Coach

In order to be qualified as a Coach 1 for the 2020-2021 season, a new coach must complete:

Register for an OMHA Coach 1 - Intro to Coach Qualification online clinic. Upon registration you will be provided with a link to the Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / Coach 2 course. This 4-hour course must be completed in order to obtain the Coach 1 - Intro to Coach Qualification.

If you already have the Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / Coach 2 course from a previous Coach 1 or Coach 2 clinic you are not required to take it again.

Coach 2 - Coach Level

In order to be qualified as Coach 2 for the 2020-2021 season, a new coach must complete:

Register for an OMHA Coach 2 - Coach Level Qualification online clinic. Upon registration you will be provided with a link to the Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / Coach 2 course and the *HU - ONLINE Checking course. These courses must be completed in order to obtain the Coach 2 - Coach Level Qualification. If you already have the Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / Coach 2 course from a previous Coach 1 or Coach 2 clinic you are not required to take it again.
