Waxers U18BB2 Team are The Undefeated Gold Medal Champions of the 2024
Scarborough Ice Raiders Early Bird Tournament!
After going
3-0 in round robin play and clinching the #1 seed - as well as enduring a
devastating injury to one of our hardest working players - The Waxers advanced
to a semi-final rematch vs. a feisty Toronto Avalanche Team. Down 1-0
early in the 1st period, the boys bounced back with a
shorthanded goal to tie the game, and then added on another 5 unanswered goals
to storm their way into the finals vs. a familiar foe: The Vaughan Rangers.
In the championship game, The
Waxers came out determined to maintain their undefeated streak for the entire
tournament and jumped out to a 1-0 lead with another big shorthanded
goal. The back and forth battle continued with Vaughan evening the score
minutes later 1-1 to end the 1st period. With laser-like focus
and a commitment to the task at hand, our boys hustled hard with their
discipline and skill, and turned in a dominating 2nd period
that Vaughan was never able to recover from, to secure their gold medal to open
the 2024-2025 season!
