To kick our #WaxersFightCovid19 donation drive into high gear, we are fortunate to have garnered some help from some player graduates of the Waxers: Steven Stamkos, Cody Hodgson, Cameron Gaunce, Brendan Gaunce and Jonathan Ang. Please accept their challenge and support this effort to provide much needed funds for those in need within our own community!
Over the last 18 plus years, our volunteer-managed organizations have been fortunate to have built a surplus of funds. Each year our budget target is to have revenue and expenses even out. Some years our revenue exceeds our expenses and some of those funds are kept aside to balance out our financial operations in years when our expenses exceed our revenue. The rest is kept aside for what most people refer to as a “rainy day fund” to be used in a very special circumstance.
Your Waxers Board of Directors believes this is the time to access the “rainy day fund” to assist our local community on three fronts: healthcare providers; those people who rely on the food bank to feed their families; and the youth who need shelter, mental health support, and education services.
- Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation
- Markham Food Bank
- 360° Kids (Markham based youth shelter and related services)
Each of these are well-deserving organizations and are CRA-registered charities.
The Waxers will donate $50,000 divided amongst the three organizations. But we believe the Waxers family can do more. We are asking you to match our donation. If successful, this means we can donate $100,000 amongst these three local charities.
