The Markham Waxers Atom AE travelled to a snowy and cold Montreal over
the November 15-17 weekend to compete in the Can-Am Tournament. The team
excelled on Friday with commanding wins over the Avenue Road Ducks and the TAHA
Junior Engineers.
On Saturday, we faced a tough Warren Park Eagles opponent, and tied.
The players and goalies got to compete in the Can-Am Shoot-out and Relay, and proudly represented the Markham Waxers, while being cheered by parents and siblings. Julia Chipun submitted an essay for the Can-Am contest, and emerged victorious, winning a free week at a Can-Am Hockey Camp!
The two wins and a tie were enough to earn our Markham Waxers a spot in the tournament finals, where we again had to face the Warren Park Eagles. The squad battled hard, and was helped with solid defence and some amazing saves to win the final game 3-0!
The victory and award ceremony was something our players will take with them throughout their hockey careers. A great hockey and team-building experience.
