After a great season where we finished second place in our league the Waxers entered the OMHA playoffs.

First round against Richmond Hill. We won the series 3 games to 1.

In the quarter finals we were matched up against a battle hardened Barrie Colts team that played us tough. We lost the round but learned valuable lessons about ourselves and the team.

We entered the York Simcoe playoffs only to be matched up against RH again with the same result. A 3 games to 1 series win.

We were off to the York Simcoe finals against TNT!!

First game Wednesday night March 20th at Milliken Mills. TNT gets on the board first then adds a second goal to go up 2-0. Markham adjusts and puts up 2 goals to tie. A late penalty against Markham and TNT scores to go up 3-2 and eventually win the game.

TNT is up in the series 1-0

Game 2. Saturday March 21st. Markham looses a tough game 4-1 at TNT

TNT is up 2-0 in the series

Game 3 at Markham Village. Win or go home for Markham. TNT gets on the board first with a goal but that doesn’t get the kids down. They battle back to tie the game quickly. Markham continues to push and scores 2 more to go up 3-1 and win the game.

Game 4 at TNT, another win or go home game. Markham this time gets on the board first only to have TNT score to tie 1-1. Markham scores to go up 2-1 and once again TNT comes back to tie 2-2. The teams battle hard but no one scores again in regulation. OT. Both teams are exchanging chances back and forth but at 1:30 into overtime Markham gets a chance on a big rebound and scores to win the game.

Series tied 2-2

Game 5 March 31st Markham Village.

Final game of the series. Markham has battled back to even up the series and force game 5.

1st period both teams are exchanging chances but no team scores. 2nd period TNT scores to go up 1-0. Markham battles back and ties the game 1-1. From there both teams fighting hard and trading shots until Markham scores at 4:02 in the 2nd period to go up 2-1. TNT almost scores in the 3rd to tie but the puck was taken off the goal line by the Markham defense. Amazing play to keep the game at 2–1. Late in the 3rd period Markham scores again to go up 3-1 and ultimately go on to win the game 3-1 and the series 3 games to 2.

What a series!! What a year!! What a special group of kids!!
