On Saturday, December 2 there was a “Waxers Night Out” to watch
Markham’s own Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) team – the Markham
Thunder! The Thunder played a hard-fought
game against Les Canadiennes Montreal and the kids were thrilled to see such
high calibre hockey right in our own backyards at the Thornhill Community
Centre.
There were attendees at the game from both the Waxers Atom Select team and some Waxers House League players. Our league was well represented, with some players getting the opportunity to participate in the following special roles:
1) Sheehan Lloyd (Waxers Atom Selects) – Singing of O’ Canada
2) Aaron Show, Evan Yang & Brayden Fung (Waxers Atom Selects) – Flag Bearers
3) Mira and Lillian Aligiannis (Waxers House League) – Penalty Box Door Openers
Our Waxers players did a great job cheering for the Markham Thunder. We received the following note from the team:
“This past weekend we were lucky to host a few Markham Waxers hockey teams at our game. The boys were truly great, they were cheering the whole game and afterwards were super excited to meet the players.”
The kids stayed afterwards to meet the players and get autographs. All in all it was a terrific night!
