The Markham Waxers Tyke MD team led by Head Coach Jamie Ritskos has emerged as winners of the 17th Annual Randy Merten/Dan Holland Memorial Tournament held in Belle River, ON in the Tyke Division.  This team played with passion, perseverance, and respect for the game, and their team.

There were 24 teams split into four divisions.  This team came away with the best overall record, most points, most goals for, least goals against and tournament champions.  The Waxers made it to the finals with wins against Tecumseh Eagles (6-0), Essex Ravens (8-1), West London Hawks (8-2), Barrie Jr. Colts Buick (7-3), and Essex Ravens again (7-2).

They faced the hometown Riverside Rangers in the final, and came back from 5-2 deficit with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period to not only tie the game with :16 seconds remaining in regulation, but win 6-5 in a thrilling overtime victory, that left the crowd jumping up from their seats, to become tournament champions.

The coaches, Jamie Ritskos, Matt Brown and Mike Roy, along with trainers Allen Fenwick and Mike Powell and manager Tony Stevkov, did an amazing job keeping the team focused and on task to bring home the exciting win.
