Congratulations to the Markham Waxers U14 AA team on their Second Tournament Win this Season - Oshawa Cup in Oshawa!
Over the January 12 weekend, the U14AA
building off their first tournament win in Pittsburgh, the team continued to
achieve another success than in Oshawa.
After
suffering an opening loss of 3-1 facing Clarington on Friday January 12, the
boys battled hard against a tough Rideau St. Lawrence, beating them 4-3. Continuing
this win, the boys came out strong on Saturday vs. Sudbury winning 4-0. Later in the evening they faced Richmond
Hill beating them 5-1.
They
are off to the semi-finals vs. St. Catherine’s defeating them 3-0. Which put us back squarely against
Clarington, AGAIN, but this time for ALL THE MARBLES.
The final game against a strong
undefeated Clarington did not deter or shake these boys. There was work to be
done. With a tied game, the boys got the
go-ahead goal late in the 3rd period with 2:13 left in the
game. And then to seal up the deal a
final goal at :59 left. Waxers WIN 4-2!
All parents, and coaches are extremely
proud of these Waxers for their resiliency, sportsmanship, and determination
over the weekend. So many more memories made that will last a lifetime!
