The Waxers U18 AA team spent the November 11 weekend in Waterloo, Ontario, playing in the Waterloo Memorial annual hockey tournament. On Friday, they played their first game resulting is a scoreless tie against the host team, Waterloo Wolves.
Running the table with wins for the next 4 games, they found themselves facing the host team again in the final, battling for the championship. Three periods of spirited play and a 3rd period buzzer goal for the Waxers that was called off, the score after regulation was tied at 2-2, putting the game into a sudden death overtime period. Five minutes of exciting OT was played but still no resolution. So on to a shootout!
The Waxers started with the first shooter and the Wolves followed. After both teams completed their three shooters, it was tied at 2 goals each with Max McMahon and Bryce McKee scoring for the Waxers. So... on to a sudden death shoot out!
The Waxers made short work of it with Jerémie Trépanier scoring a goal in the first sudden death round and the Waxers goalie, Brock Kalin shutting down the Waterloo shooter. Waxers win, giving them their third tournament win this season! Back to Back to Back!!! On to the Oshawa Challenge next weekend!
