The U12A Waxers had an amazing regular
season, going 17-3-3 with an .804 win percentage within the York Simcoe Minor
Hockey League. Although this record did
not allow them to qualify for the OMHA tournament, the team was still laser
focused on becoming the York Simcoe Champions.
The YS playoff tournament was hosted by Orillia – the furthest possible location in the loop. The team persevered through the round robin portion of the playoffs, earning 7 of a possible 8 points which qualified them for a semi-final game vs Richmond Hill. During this game, they executed their tactical plan to perfection, winning the game 3-0 setting up a final game vs Aurora.
To say the team was pumped for the final is an understatement – they quickly stormed out of the gate and took a 4-0 lead in the 1st period. During the 2nd period, they endured some significant push-back from Aurora, which ended with the Waxers holding a 7-2 lead heading into the final frame. In the end, the Waxers were able to secure the cup, posting a dominant 7-3 final score to earn their gold medals. Way to go boys!
The team would like to thank all of the Waxers parents and extended family & friends who came out all season and provided a ton of support. The team especially appreciated the amazing atmosphere that the fans created for the final game, cheering them on to victory!
