Markham Recreation Update
The Government of Ontario has made additional health measures for the province to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The province will be temporarily moving into Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen with modifications. These measures are in effect starting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12:01 AM for at least 21 days (until January 26, 2022), subject to trends in public health and health system indicators.

The measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Reducing social gathering limits to five people indoors and 10 people outdoors.
  • Limiting capacity at organized public events to five people indoors.
  • Closing indoor meeting and event spaces with limited exceptions but permitting outdoor spaces to remain open with restrictions.
Closing indoor sport and recreational fitness facilities including gyms.

The following outlines how rental permit holders will be affected during this time:

  • All permits from January 5-26, 2022 will be cancelled. Permits with start dates on or after January 27, 2022 continue to be offered as planned until further notice.

Residents are encouraged to visit markham.ca/recreation to register for virtual and outdoor programs as well as virtual fitness classes to stay active, social and engaged during these difficult times.
