The Markham Waxers U18 A team won their third championship of the year on February 26th
at the Dunsmuir Memorial Tournament. The Waxers played a number of teams from Northern Ontario for the first time, including the Wawa Legionnaires in the finals, a team that recently won the Silver Stick Tournament in Sudbury.
In the finals, the Waxers were down 1-0 for much of the game. However, they were able to score the tying goal mid-third period and scored the winner with 3:57 left on the clock.
This season, the U18 A team entered five tournaments and reached the finals in each one. They emerged victorious in three of those tournaments. This victory was a great way for the 13 graduating
2005 born players to cap off their Waxers hockey tournament careers.
