Atom Select, 2017-2018, RS (Markham Waxers)

It starts when I started playing house league...when I wasn't as good as I am now. I was just learning how to skate. I didn’t even know how to snowplow. I spent a lot of time on the ice...literally so “Superman” was my favourite drill. After a few years, I decided to tryout for the Rostered Select Team because I thought I was ready, and this is where my select journey begins.

Four months ago, if I was asked to create a list of all the things I like about hockey I would have submitted a lengthy list full of points about teammates and hard work and challenge. I’ve always loved hockey and I thought the game had taught me everything it had to teach already.

Talk from Andrew Brewer, Assistant Coach, Toronto Maple Leafs This past summer,  the 2016/2017 Markham Waxers Minor Atom Select team participated in the every hockey players dream – to train at the Air Canada Centre with the coaching and training staff of the Toronto Maple Leafs!

The following article has been written by 10 year old Aaron Chow, #55 on our team. After a call was put out to the parents on our team to find volunteers to write articles for our website – Aaron saw the email in his parents’ inbox and took the initiative to step up and volunteer.  We are very proud of the hard work Aaron has put into this…and for putting his name forward as a volunteer writer for the team (and based on the article - for listening to your coaches' instructions too!).
