The Details - again, thank you for the great feedback, to balance out the main needs that seem to be expressed by everyone, we’ve selected the following:
1. Residence Inn by Marriott @ 161 Laurier Avenue West Ottawa - $159 per night
a. Hotel has a pool
b. Free Buffet Breakfast (hot and cold)
c. Each room is a suite, has kitchenette to cook up snacks, Queen bed and pull out couch, living area, etc.
d. Walking distance to a lot of the sights etc – National Arts Centre – 5 min walk, Rideau Centre – 8 min walk, National War Memorial and Sparks street – 7 min walk, Parliament Hill – 10 min walk, Byward market – 15 min – etc.
e. Free Wifi throughout hotel
f. Parking does have to be paid for (about $20 per day, but the free breakfast helps balance that a bit – as agreed with most paying for parking is annoying at a hotel). There are a number of private pay parking lots that surround the hotel that may be cheaper.
g. Tim Hortons – there is one right on the hotel property. There are a bunch of restaurants as well in the area.
h. 20 min drive to Sensplex (going out of downtown, so hopefully not too bad even in busy traffic)
