The Waxers U10 Select team is now in full swing but is looking for additional team members to complete our season roster.

Why Select?

The select team is a bridge between house league hockey and the more competitive levels of hockey: MD, A, AA & AAA. Players registered for Markham Waxers house league are invited to participate in the sessions for the select team.

Why Play Select Hockey?

The select program offers valuable skill development in addition to the house league practices and games. We play against neighbouring teams at the same age group to put the skills developed in practices to use and enjoy the fun and excitement of playing in games. Playing select hockey on top of house league hockey will greatly improve a player’s skill development and be a great starting point for those planning to move on to play rep in the Waxers organization in future years.

Player commitment

All players that are chosen for the select program must attend their house league practices and games in addition to their select team practices and games. Failing to do so will result in dismissal from the select team.

Select Program

The select team will hold separate team practices, play in their own league against neighboring club teams, and may also play in up to two tournaments during the season.
There is an additional cost for joining a select team. The cap for player fees is set by the league at $1,400 for each select player. This is in addition to the house league registration fee you’ve already paid. The select fees include a practice jersey, game jersey, game socks, winter jacket, winter toque, and ice times, exhibition games and tournaments. Note, that the budget for each team is set independently and the final cost and what’s included can vary by team.
