As the head coach of Markham Waxers U18 BB3 team, heading into my fifth season, I bring nearly eight years of volunteer coaching experience, having dedicated the last four years to leading this incredible group of young athletes as head coach.
My coaching philosophy centres around fostering a team culture grounded in brotherhood and family that extends far beyond the ice. I believe that when a team truly becomes a family, their performance both on and off the ice transcends the game itself. We are not just teammates — we are brothers, supporting each other in every step of the journey that life is, not just hockey.
Before stepping into the role of head coach, I was a proud member of the Markham Waxers as a rep player, on teams that won YSMHL championships, where I learned firsthand what it means to wear the crest with pride. This experience has deeply influenced my approach as a coach, as I know the significance of representing something bigger than yourself. That pride, dedication, and commitment are values I instil in every player under my guidance.
Our team benefits from a deep, experienced coaching staff. Alongside myself is a skilled goalie coach, a former AA coach as an assistant, and a dedicated team statistician who tracks a variety of advanced proprietary stats to help us identify both strengths and areas for improvement in each player’s game. We focus on individualized and systemic development to ensure that every player reaches their fullest potential.
This year, our hard work and attention to detail culminated in an unforgettable achievement: winning the President’s Cup, a fantastic achievement that was the result of our team philosophies and systems combining effectively.
