Matthew has a long history in the game of hockey as a player, instructor, and coach. He played minor hockey in Whitby and was drafted by the Brampton Battalion of the OHL He played two years of Junior A hockey in Ontario before attending university where he pursued a degree in Criminology and Justice.

He has coached both of his children in minor hockey since 2021. Prior to that, he volunteered his time as a coach for multiple minor hockey, lacrosse, and baseball teams. Matthew is currently a scout for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL and the head scout for the St. Michael's Buzzers of the OJHL. He is also an instructor at the OHL's Performance Development League.

Developing young hockey players is something Matthew is extremely passionate about. He is looking forward to a fun and successful 2025/26 season.

James is Markham born and raised, playing nearly all of his minor hockey career as a Waxer and winning an OFSAA AAAA/AAA Hockey Championship with St Brother Andre.

At the conclusion of his minor hockey career, James jumped right in to the coaching ranks while still a first year student at the University of Toronto and has been coaching at various age groups and levels in the Waxers organization since 2015.

James’ father, Gus, has been involved in the Waxers organization as a manager at the AAA level for various age groups over the past 15+ years, while his brother Jonathan, also a Waxer alumnus, was an undrafted free agent signing with the Kitchener Rangers that went on to score 50 goals in a single OHL season. Jonathan also won gold for Team Canada at the FISU World University Games and is now playing professional hockey in Europe.

A Chartered Professional Accountant by trade, James is a strong believer in using sport to help develop strong character and soft skills, and always tries his best to help develop good people, good teammates, and good hockey players.
