Orangeville, ON – The U12AA Waxers capped off their season in dramatic fashion, claiming the Presidents Cup with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Orangeville in their own barn. The championship win was especially sweet, as the Waxers had not beaten Orangeville all season—until it mattered most.
Despite falling just short in the Aurora Early Bird finals and the London Tournament semifinals, the coaching staff remained confident that this team had grown into a championship-caliber squad. That belief proved true as the Waxers battled back from a 2-1 deficit heading into the third period.
With 6:49 remaining, the Waxers found the equalizer, setting the stage for Matthew Fenney’s heroics. With just 3:23 left on the clock, Fenney buried the game-winning goal, sending the Waxers bench into a frenzy. From there, the team shut the door defensively, holding off a desperate Orangeville attack to secure the hard-fought victory and their first championship of the season.
A season of perseverance, growth, and determination finally paid off in the biggest game of the year.
Congratulations to the U12AA Waxers – 2025 Presidents Cup Champions! 🏆🏒
