The Markham Waxers U18 BB2 team are the undefeated gold medal champions of the 2024 Scarborough Raiders Early Bird Tournament!

After going 3-0 in round robin play and clinching the number one seed in their bracket, as well as enduring a devastating injury to one of our hardest working players, the Waxers advanced to a semi-final rematch against a feisty Toronto Avalanche A team. Down 1-0 early in the 1st period, the boys bounced back with a shorthanded goal to tie the game and then added another five unanswered goals to storm their way into the finals against a familiar foe, the Vaughn Rangers.

In the championship game, the Waxers came out determined to maintain their undefeated streak for the entire tournament and jumped out to a 1-0 lead with another big shorthanded goal. The back and forth battle continued with Vaughn tying the score minutes later 1-1 to end the 1st period. With laser-like focus and a commitment to the task at hand, our boys hustled hard with their discipline and skill, and turned in a dominating 2nd period that Vaughn was never able to recover from, securing their gold medal to open the 2024-2025 season!

A huge thank you goes out to all our Waxers families and friends for their support this weekend and especially a big congratulations to all the Markham Waxers U18 BB2 team: Kish, Adam, Pagsie, Daniel, Kevy, Wanger, Tanger, Rhys, Mats, Jalen, Evan, EZ, Knighty, Ryden, Devin, Terry, Brando, Jack, Ethan, Coach Ryno, Coach Jeff, Coach Sal, Trainer Jim, and Manager Richard!
