U15 MD 1 Strike Silver
THE MARKHAM WAXERS U15 MD1 TEAM STRUCK SILVER AT THE 2022 NAZEM KADRI NORTH LONDON CLASSIC!

The U15 MD1 team embarked on a journey to the top-tier Nazem Kadri North London Classic, which boasted several of Ontario’s top-ranked MD teams.  Our boys were up for the weekend challenge and bravely battled through various illnesses, obstacles, and injuries.

After going 1-1-1 in round robin play and securing 2nd place in their division, the team moved onto a quarterfinals matchup vs. the hometown heroes, the North London Nationals.  After a spirited affair, the Waxers came away with a convincing 3-0 win to advance to the semifinals, facing a familiar foe

In the semifinals, our boys met with our backyard rivals, the Stouffville Clippers.  The game had a hectic tug-of-war pace of play that ended in a tense 1-1 tie after regulation. After a nail-biting 3v3 OT period that saw both teams exchanging chance after chance, we were forced into a sudden death shoot out.  Our boys’ precise skill and talent clinched our birth into the finals with a 3-1 win in the shootout!

Entering our final championship matchup, the boys had a grudge (re)match against the Cambridge Hawks. The Waxers absorbed the early surge of energy from the attacking Cambridge Hawks and were tied 0-0 after 2 thrilling periods.  The Waxers returned fire to grab a 1-0 lead early on in the third period.  The battle pressured on with Cambridge scoring a goal in the last minute of regulation play to tie the game 1-1.  Off to yet another dramatic 3v3 OT match up that saw breakaways, hit posts, and everything in between that ended with Cambridge securing a 2-1 victory.

The Markham Waxers U15MD1 Team would like to thank the Stouffville Clippers and the Cambridge Hawks for an intense and emotional end to the tournament.

Our biggest thank you as always goes out to all our U15 MD1 Waxers families and friends for all of their support during this tournament. Most importantly a big congratulations to all of the Markham Waxers U15 MD1 silver medallists:  Kish, Vinny, Jack, Kevy, Eric, Anthony, Mats, Evan, Knighty, Ryden, Nathan, Terry, Marcus, Pagsie, Devin, Jalen, coach Ryno, coach Sal, coach Jeff, trainer Jill and team manager Richard.
