You’ve
completed online registration for the 2023-2024 hockey season with the Markham
Waxers House League. So, what’s next?
Parent Respect in Sport
If you are new to hockey, you must complete Parent Respect in Sport. You only need to take the program once—it does not expire. If you are registering a child for the first time but have taken the program for another child, add the child to your Respect in Sport account by way of the Respect in Sport program’s Child Management tab.
If you have taken the program for another sport such as soccer or baseball, transfer your certification by logging into the Respect in Sport system and entering your certification number on the registration page.
Download instructions on how to complete Parent Respect in Sports and update your account.
Friend Requests
The Waxers allow one friend request per player. We do not accept coach requests. Please read through the conditions and submit the Special Request form no later than September 1. We will not consider requests submitted after that date, so please don't ask.
Rookie Camp
For players who are new to hockey, we offer our Rookie Camp prior to the start of the season. This year’s camps will be held on Wednesday, September 6, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Centennial Community Centre and Thursday, September 7, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Centennial Community Centre. Register now.
Team Assignments
You will receive an email in early September with your child’s evaluation team number and schedule. Please complete the Medical Information Form and bring it to your first session.
Players will receive a jersey for their use during the evaluation period, but will need to provide their own socks. Once all teams are balanced, players in the U8 divisions and older will choose their numbers. Season jerseys will be printed with names and numbers. Jerseys and socks will be distributed in early November.
Season Start
The season starts on September 15.
In the U7 through U9 divisions, we start the season with player development.
U11 through U21 begin the season with two weekends of evaluation games. Players will skate in full gear while our coaches evaluate the players. We use the results of those evaluations to create balanced teams for the season.
After the evaluation games, the coaches will meet and make any changes necessary to the teams to balance them for the season. We’ll then play two to three exhibition games to ensure we have the teams as balanced as possible.
The regular season will begin in November.
Schedules
Schedules will be finalized after registration closes on August 31 and uploaded to the website during the first week of September. View the tentative program schedule.
