BREAKING NEWS! YSMHL Competitive Pathway Program (CPP)

BREAKING NEWS! Beginning in the 2024-25 season, Markham Waxers U7, U8 and U9 Select Teams will compete in the York Simcoe Minor Hockey League (YSMHL) Competitive Pathway Program (CPP)!

What is the Competitive Pathway Program (CPP)? It is a YSMHL rebrand of Select hockey for U7, U8 and U9 age groups which will allow these teams to now participate in a formal league, similar to a rep program. CPP/Select is an extension of House League, and open to all House League registered players on an evaluation basis.

CPP Select was designed to give our youngest players a fun, competitive, and age-appropriate hockey development experience in accordance with the Hockey Canada Pathway and Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Player Development Model. This program has been developed with the goal of providing players and their families with a more time-efficient hockey schedule by dividing the participating teams into a North and South division to limit the travel time in the car.

The Markham Waxers are proud to have been a founding member of the CPP along with our friends at WSMHA. The program is sanctioned by the YSMHL, OMHA, and Hockey Canada and will begin in the 2024-25 minor hockey season. We are very excited about this new program for our youngest players.
