Due to the increasing transmissions of COVID-19, the Province of Ontario announced on January 3, 2022, that it is returning to modified Step 2 of the Reopening Plan based on O. Reg. 263/20: Rules for areas in Step 2.

The only exceptions are for athletes training for the Olympics and Paralympics and select Professional and Elite Amateur Sport Leagues and Events who will operate via an approved Framework from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and meet all sanctioning requirements of their respective Member. In accordance with O. Reg. 263/20: Rules for areas in Step 2, “Framework” means the document titled “Return-to-Play Framework for Professional and Elite Amateur Sport Leagues and Events.”
