Markham enters modified stage 2
The Government of Ontario has announced additional health measures for the Regional Municipality of York to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The measures are in effect starting on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 12:01 AM, for a minimum of 28 days. After consulting with public health officials, the City of Markham will allow all arena permits to continue under updated criteria.

  • NEW! Maximum of 10 people per booking including trainer and coaches

  • NEW! No spectators allowed

  • NEW! Change rooms and locker rooms are not available, participants need to enter the building dressed as much as possible. Note: for children still using car seats, bulky clothing should not be worn beneath seat belts to ensure restraints are as close to the body as possible.

  • NEW! All game play or scrimmages are suspended (skill development and training can continue)

  • NEW! Each team follows and reviews updated Return to Play guidelines established and/or provided to your group that is most closely related to your sport. Learn more about Ontario’s Return to Play guidelines.

All public health guidelines and COVID-19 health and safety precautions previously in place remain in effect:

  • Screening protocols:

    • Perform a self-assessment for COVID-19 before you arrive.

    • Stay home if you feel sick and follow public health protocols.

    • Mandatory screening upon arrival.

  • Keep a safe distance from others (6 feet or 2 metres).

  • Wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer frequently.

  • A mask or face covering is required.

  • Follow safety and directional signage; and,

  • Only permit holders, registered participants and pre-booked pay-per-play participants are allowed (no walk-ins);

The City of Markham understands the social, physical, and mental health benefits of staying active and engaged. During COVID-19, the City of Markham will continue to provide a variety of fun, educational, creative, and active programs for all ages that are adapted to ensure the health and safety of our participants and staff.
