The Minor Midget MD Blue team were crowned champions on Superbowl Sunday after an impressive showing in Bradford, securing the tournament title with a 2-1 victory over the Guelph Gryphons.
The Waxers claimed first place during the round robin after going 3-0 over the first two days, with wins over George Bell (5-4), Guelph Gryphons (2-1), and North Toronto (4-0). The boys started strong scoring the first goal a few minutes into the game and then going up 2-0 before Guelph closed the gap 2-1. They battled the entire game until the end and came out victorious. After numerous 2nd place finishes in tournaments over the years it was great to see the team come out on top this time around.
