Bob Giroux Tournament
The weekend of December 4-6 was the Initiation RS' first team tournament.  The tournament was held at the PowerAde Center in Brampton.  From the first game on Friday Morning through the Championship game on Sunday, the kids were electric.  So much energy.

There was no doubt, the kids were ready to show teams from around the GTA, what the Waxer's Initiation RS team was all about!

From the puck drop on Friday Morning to the final buzzer on Sunday afternoon, the Waxers IRS team was ready.

Thank you to Sarah and Cathy for organizing an amazing Glow-in-the-dark Mini Golf event/lunch for the kids on Friday between games!  It's impressive...18 holes in less than 5 minutes! Talk about speed golf! Who knew!

Thank you to all the parents for your support and the chaos that was McDonald's playland on Saturday.

So, here are the results

Friday, 9:00am.  Waxers 2 - Whitby Wildcats Eastman 1
Friday, 2:00pm.  Waxers 6 - Peterborough Pete's Whites 5
Saturday, 8:00am. Waxers 7 - Peterborough Pete's Maroon 2
Saturday, 1:00pm. Waxers 5 - Brampton 45's 0

The kids were stoked going into Sunday's championship game at 1:15pm  Throughout the tournament, it was evident that the kids knew their positions and played hard from beginning to end.  We even got a couple of PIMs!

All was good, the kids were dressed, ready to go, music blaring. Ready to go on the ice.  Ready to face the Whitby Wildcats again.

The championship game was a hard fought game. Although we got down early in the first period, the kids never gave up.  They battled for every puck, every face-off, back checked hard and put everything they had out there.  Both our goalies did well for the team, making tough stops and keeping us in the game.  After the final buzzer the score was:

Waxers 2 - Whitby Wildcats 6

At the conclusion of the game, Coach Kevin announced all the kids names and they individually went up and received their finalist medal.  They shook Whitby's hands and congratulated them when they received their medals.

It was a great first tournament experience for most of the team.  We did well, worked hard and took awa some fantastic moments from the three-day event.
