We know how frustrating this is, we are frustrated too.
The City of Markham has only allocated the Waxers House League enough hours of ice to run the same program we did during the 2019-2020 season. We had wait lists that year because we could not obtain additional ice from the City.
The UMHA dissolved in 2020. The City has not allocated us nor TCHL any additional hours to be able to accommodate registrations from former UMHA players looking for a place to play.
If you think the City should allocate us additional hours so that we can meet the increased demand for spots in house league, we urge you to contact the Mayor and both your regional and ward councillor and let them know that you want the children of Markham to have access to local house league hockey programming. Without an increase in the hours of ice allocated to the Waxers House League, many Markham children may be denied the opportunity to play hockey this season.
It doesn't have to be a long, detailed email. Just let them know that you live in their ward and would like the City to reconsider allocating some additional hours to both the Markham Waxers House League and the TCHL to accommodate the players from the UMHA who are looking to continue their participation in house league hockey programming.
