Waxers RS Teams Receive Permission to Play in the NYHL
We are very excited to announce that the OMHA has granted the Waxers RS teams permission to participate in the North York Hockey League, which provides teams with tiered divisions, structured regular and playoff seasons, a championship series, and an All-Star game.

RS Tryouts
RS tryouts begin the week of May 1st and are open to all registered house league players.

What is Rostered Select (RS) hockey?
The RS program is not Representative Hockey (AAA, AA, A, or AE). The major difference is that first and foremost, RS players are also be House League players. While it may be considered more competitive than their House League team, the emphasis is placed on fun and development of all players. This is achieved by emphasizing the fun aspects of team participation, while giving them the opportunity to learn and practice at a higher level, play games and tournaments against Select teams from other associations, and by providing a social environment conducive to team building. RS team players participate on the ice equally.

Who is Eligible to Try Out?
All registered house league players that reside in the City of Markham or have played the past two consecutive seasons of House League in the Markham Waxers Hockey Association. If you haven't already done so, please register prior to attending your first tryout. You must show your house league registration receipt at the tryout.

Please also register for the tryouts online prior to the first tryout.

If your child is interested in attending the tryouts as a goalie but does not have their own goaltender equipment, please contact the House League equipment manager, Errol Misquitta to determine if there is equipment available to borrow for the tryouts.

When and Where are the Tryouts?
There are two sessions for each team. View the tryout schedule. Please plan to attend both sessions. If your player is unable to attend both sessions, please contact the coach.

How does a tryout work?
When you arrive in the lobby, please sign in at the registration desk, pay the $20 tryout fee, and pick-up an information package. Your player will be loaned a tryout jersey that must be returned to the coach at the end of each tryout. There will be Hockey Development instructors on the ice guiding the players through various drills, followed by a scrimmage. Players must wear full equipment, including mouth and neck guards.

We hope to see you at the tryouts!
