Return to Regular Hockey Programming
The OMHA plans to resume regular programming in the fall.

"Many of you have been asking when hockey will return to normal, when we can play what we refer to as five a side. Well fingers crossed, but I’m happy to say that’s our plan, for now, to start our regular programming again in the fall."

Hi everyone,

It’s been a long year and half for everybody as we’ve all struggled in our own way to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and how it’s changed our lives.

Over the last few months, we’ve heard from many of you who missed your time with other parents at the rink or saw your children longing to get back on the ice with their friends. There were way too many starts and stops for hockey as in other aspects of our lives. But we did learn an important lesson – how pivotal hockey is and how it can help your children with their mental health.

Many of you have been asking when hockey will return to normal, when we can play what we refer to as five a side.

Well fingers crossed, but I’m happy to say that’s our plan, for now, to start our regular programming again in the fall.

There may be some slight modifications about how you come and go into buildings, what you can do when you’re there and, of course, it may be different depending on where you live in the province.

We’re working closely with our governing body, the Ontario Hockey Federation, to ensure a return to play so your children can participate in a safe and healthy way.

One small caveat, if there’s something we’ve all learned over the past year, we may need to pivot and be flexible if we go through another wave like we’ve seen before.

We don’t have all the answers about what tomorrow will look like.

Right now, we’re planning for a return to hockey as we all knew it before COVID.

I promise to let you know if anything changes and when we have further updates will make them available on this page.

Finally, let me just say, we appreciate you staying with us and the game we all love so deeply.

Hope to see you at the rink. I encourage you to click on the link below to learn more about our new seasonal structure designed with our players and of course, you our parents in mind.
