On February 23, we received the following update from the City of Markham.
On February 22, the Region of York which includes the City of Markham, entered the RED-CONTROL Zone under a revised and strengthened Keeping Ontario Safe and Open COVID-19 Response Framework. While the RED-CONTROL Zone allows for the reopening of recreational facilities with reduced capacity and a narrow scope of activities, the City of Markham has decided to continue to take a cautious approach to reopening.
After careful consideration, Markham facilities will remain closed. Several new and more infectious strains of COVID-19 have been detected in York Region.
The City of Markham will reassess the current closures in two weeks. We understand the impact this has had on your organization, and we are committed to working with you to understand your needs in the context of this pandemic.
The health and safety of our community and our employees remains our number one priority.
