At the start of a new season, every player is scheduled to attend a 50-minute Player Evaluation Skate (which includes skating drills, puck work, and scrimmaging), that affords the Hockey Development Team the opportunity to evaluate a player’s skills. A draft follows, where players are distributed equitably amongst the teams in a division with the goal of competitive teams.
